In the 2002 season, Hussey was hired as a line judge and he wears the uniform number 35. He officiated the Super Bowl XLV between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers which was held at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. In 2011 he officiated three Championship Games, the 2011 NFC Championship Game between the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Giants and the 2013 AFC Championship Game between the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos.

In the 2015 season, Hussey was promoted to referee and his first NFL game as referee was on September 13 where he officiated the game between the Tennessee Titans and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was the referee in a game between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions. In the 2020 NFC Championship game between the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers, Hussey officiated as a referee.

Hussey is also the founder and CEO of Cuddly which helps animal rescue organisations gain support so that they can help and save animals who are in critical condition.
