Montez Sweat is a professional American football player who plays as a defensive end for the Chicago Bears in the NFL. He began his professional football career with the Washington Commanders after he was selected by the team in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Later, he joined the Bears in 2023, after being traded by the Commanders.
Sweat began his football career at Stephenson High School, where he played high school football for the school’s football team. He was ranked as one of the top tight ends in the nation by ESPN.com (No. 26), Scout.com (No. 36), and 247Sports (No. 65). Throughout his collegiate career, he represented Michigan State University for the first two seasons, played for Copiah–Lincoln Community College during the 2016 season and eventually played for Mississippi State University. He concluded his collegiate career with 144 tackles and 28.5 sacks. While at Mississippi State, he earned a place on the first-team All-SEC in both 2017 and 2018, and also received the First-team All-American honor in 2018.
