Spencer Sanders is an American football player currently playing in the quarterback position for the University of Mississippi, also known as Ole Miss. He joined the Ole Miss Rebels in January 2023. Prior to that, he played college football for the Oklahoma State Cowboys at Oklahoma State University from 2018 to 2022.
In the 2018 season, Sanders redshirted, marking his true freshman season. Throughout his college years, his exceptional performance earned him several recognitions and achievements. Noteworthy achievements include securing the title of 2019 Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year, earning MVP of the 2020 Cheez-It Bowl and earning a spot on the 2021 First Team All-Big 12. Furthermore, in the 2021 season, he achieved a personal career-high, amassing 2,839 passing yards while securing 20 touchdowns.
Sanders concluded his collegiate career at Oklahoma State with over 9,500 passing yards, 67 touchdowns with 40 interceptions before transferring to Ole Miss.
During his formative years, he attended Billy Ryan High School, where he embarked on his football journey. As a junior, he recorded 3,288 passing yards and 35 touchdowns with an additional 1,099 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground. Rated as a four-star recruit, in his senior year, Sanders threw the ball for 3,845 yards and scored 54 touchdowns while also rushing for 1,380 yards and scoring 16 touchdowns on the ground. His exceptional performance earned him the titles of Gatorade Player of the Year, the Associated Press Player of the Year, and the 2017 Mr. Texas Football.
