Florida-born punter Thomas Townsend signed a two-year contract with the Houston Texans after becoming a free agent in March 2024. He had previously been part of the Kansas City Chiefs since 2020 as an undrafted free agent. Coming into the fourth week of his rookie season, he had two punts that went 65 yards against the New England Patriots. Townsend appeared in 16 games having 52 punts for 2,339 yards in his rookie year. He chose to transfer to his home state, Florida the following year. During his two years with the Gators, Townsend played in 26 games punting 93 times for 4,162 yards.
