Tykee Smith played his college football for the Georgia Bulldogs and was the defensive back for his team. He initially started his college football career with the West Virginia Mountaineers and played for two seasons (2019, 2020) before transferring to Georgia.

After the conclusion of the 2020 season, Smith transferred to Georgia in 2021 but only played in one game due to a knee injury which kept him out for the entire season.
In 2022, Smith returned and posted 29 tackles and 2.0 sacks. In his final season with the Bulldogs, Smith had his best season as he had 70 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions and 2.0 sacks.
Smith has achieved many accolades and some of them are Second-team All-SEC in 2023, is a 2× CFP National Champion in 2021 and 2022, All-American in 2020, Freshman All-American in 2019, and was named to Second-team All-Big 12 in 2020.
