Marcelo Arevalo is a two-time Grand Slam champion, having won the 2022 and 2024 French Open, and is ranked numer one, as of December 2024. He lifted the trophy of his second major by defeating Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in the final with Mate Pavic. Winning the grand slam made him the first Central American player to win a men’s doubles major trophy. He finished runner-up at the 2021 US Open in mixed doubles with Giuliana Olmos against Joe Salisbury and Desirae Krawczyk.
He won his maiden doubles title at the 2018 Los Cabos Open with Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela. With his recent partner Pavic, Arevalo became the first team to qualify for the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals. The duo advanced to the championship match but lost to the German team of Tim Putz and Kevin Krawietz. They also lost in the semifinal of the 2024 Canadian Open to former top seed Horacio Zeballos and Marcel Granollers.
