Forsberg, originally from Harnsand, Sweden, was chosen by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the seventh round (188 overall ) of the 2011 NHL Draft. His North American journey began after the conclusion of the 2013-14 Swedish Hockey League season. Throughout the 2014-15 season, Forsberg primarily played with Springfield but made his NHL debut on Nov. 1, 2014, against the New Jersey Devils. He appeared in five NHL games, ending with a 0-4-0 record, a 4.59 goals-against average, and a .866 save percentage.


After joining the Ottawa Senators in March 2021, Anton Forsberg became the starting goalie for the team in the 2021-22 season, playing 46 games. He signed a three-year, $8.25 million contract extension in March 2022. Despite initially planning to share the goalie duties with Cam Talbot, Forsberg's season ended abruptly on February 11, 2023, when he tore the medial collateral ligaments in both knees during a collision, causing him to miss the remainder of the season.
