The late Johnny Gaudreau had been active in the National Hockey League (NHL) world for eleven years in his career. He had been initially drafted by the Calgary Flames in 2011 as the #104th overall draft pick. Since then, he has played for the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League (USHL) and for the Boston College Eagles at Boston College. He finally made his NHL debut with the Calgary Flames as their left wing in the 2013-14 season. He built a name for himself with the Calgary Flames for nine years before leaving to join the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2022-23 season.

Throughout his eleven-year NHL career, the late Johnny Gaudreau had played 763 games while scoring 243 goals, making 500 assists and earning 743 points in the process. During this time, he also established career-high assists with 60 assists and points with 84 points in the 2017-18 season. Moreover, he was also the eleventh NHL player born in the United States to score at least 100 points in his career, thereby ranking himself second after Patrick Kane. Unfortunately, his NHL career was brought to an end as he passed away on August 29, 2024, along with his younger brother Matthew Gaudreau after being hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The late Johnny Gaudreau used to reside with his family in a house in Columbus, Ohio, United States. Notably, this house used to belong to former Columbus Blue Jackets player Oliver Bjorkstrand as per Yahoo Sports. Oliver Bjorkstrand was traded to the Seattle Krakens on July 22, 2022 as per Spotrac. Johnny Gaudreau had purchased Oliver Bjorkstrand's house from him when he relocated to Columbus, Ohio, United States. However, the exact location and specifics of Gaudreau's house is not known as of 2024.
