Connor McDavid is a center for the Edmonton Oilers and serves as the team’s captain, as of Jan 2025. He was born in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, on January 13, 1997. His mother, Kelly, played recreational hockey, while his father, Brian, was a high school hockey player and Boston Bruins fan. McDavid began skating at age three and played youth hockey starting at age four, despite his parents lying about his age to get him into games with older players. He later joined the York Simcoe Express, coached by his father, and won four Ontario Minor Hockey Association championships. In 2009, McDavid competed in the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament.

He was selected by the Oilers in the 2015 NHL Draft and signed a three-year contract worth $11.3 million. McDavid made his NHL debut during the 2015 season but was sidelined for 37 games due to a fractured clavicle. Despite the injury, he recorded 16 goals and 32 assists in his rookie season. In 2022, Connor led the Oilers to the playoffs for the first time since 2020. He finished the 2022 season with a career-high score of 153 points in 80 games.
