Charlie McAvoy is an American professional ice hockey defenseman and alternate captain for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League (NHL). Moreover, he has spent his entire professional career with the Boston Bruins (2017-present). As a kid, McAvoy played in the 2010 Quebec InternationalPee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the New York Rangers youth team. However, in August 2013, he committed to Boston University where he would play with the Boston University Terriers. In college, he was coached by David Quinn, and they paired him with another talented defenseman, Matt Grzecyk, who would also go on to play in the NHL. McAvoy was part of the gold medal-winning team at the 2015 IIHF World U18 Championships and won a bronze medal with the U-20 team at the 2016 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
