Hailing from Madison, Wisconsin, Ryan Suter is an American professional ice hockey player in the National Hockey League, who has played for several NHL teams, including the Nashville Predators, Minnesota Wild, and is presently affiliated with the Dallas Stars. Ryan Suter has also represented the United States in international competitions, including the Olympics.

During his tenure with the Nashville Predators from 2005 to 2012, Suter showcased his talent and earned selection to his first NHL All-Star Game in 2012 before moving to the Wild with a record-breaking 13-year contract and was among three finalists for the James Norris Memorial Trophy in his debut season in Missesota. Over his years with the Wild, he set franchise records and reached significant milestones, including his 500th NHL point and 1,000th NHL game. However, in 2021, the Wild bought out the remaining years of his contract, leading Suter to join the Dallas Stars on a new four-year, $14.6 million deal.

Prior to that, Suter had played college hockey for University of Wisconsin–Madison and later had a brief professional career, including a stint with the Tulsa Oilers and with the Nashville South Stars in the Central Hockey League. After retiring as a player, he was actively involved in youth hockey and managed Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton, Wisconsin. He also coached at University of Wisconsin during some part of his life.

Interestingly, he was portrayed by Pete Duffy in the 2004 Disney film Miracle. Furthermore, he was also seen in the archival footage of the gold medal ceremony of the 1981 TV movie, Miracle on the Ice.
