Tyler Johnson is an American ice hockey professional playing with the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League. Johnson won the Stanley Cup championship for two consecutive years 2020 and 2021 with the Tampa Bay Lightning before joining the BlackHawks in 2021.

Johnson started his professional junior hockey with the Spokane Chiefs in the WHL where he quickly made his impact in the 2007-2008 season. He played 69 regular games and scored 13 goals and 29 assists, helping the Spokane Chiefs secure the Ed Chynoweth Cup. Johnson continued his dominance in the 2008 Memorial Cup where his team won over the Kitchener Rangers.

Johnson scored career-high 53 goals, 62 assists, and 115 points in the 2010-2011 season and became the 15th Chiefs player to score the century mark. The Tampa Bay Lightning took notice of his talents and quickly signed him in March 2011.

Tyler Johnson NHL Journey

Tayler Johnson started the NHL journey by signing a three-year entry-level contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2011. He played the first two seasons with the Lightning's AHL affiliate team Norfolk Admirals where he made an impact with a Calder Cup. In his NHL rookie season in 2013-2014, he finished with 24 goals and 26 assists. He was nominated for the Calder Memorial Trophy that season. The following season, he earned a spot in the NHL All-Star Game due to his stellar performance. In the playoffs, Johnson made a record for most goals in Lightning history.

In 2017, he signed a seven-year contract extension with the Lightning for $35 million. Throughout his NHL career, he has achieved various milestones and surpassed records. He continued to achieve milestones with his 100th NHL goal and 260 NHL points with the Tampa Bay Lightning. His most highlighted moment with the Lightning is two Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021. His personal achievement was the first Spokane area native to win the Stanley Cup.

In 2021, his NHL journey took another turn when he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks. However, he faced some challenges due to injuries. Johnson underwent surgery for his neck injury. Despite these injuries, Johnson managed to contribute three goals and four assists in 26 games with the Blackhawks. The following season he had 12 goals and 20 assists. Johnson continues to play with the Blackhawks and yet to show his best seasons.
