American weightlifter Hampton Morris was born in Marietta, GA, on February 17, 2004. According to Team USA, he is ranked No.2 in the world in the 61 kg category and is the junior and senior clean and jerk world record holder in the men’s 61 kg as of June 2024. He completed his high school at Pope High School and was coached by his father, Tripp Morris from the very beginning.


Morris is a three-time gold medalist in the men’s 61 kg event at the Pan American Championships (2021, 2022, and 2023). The 20-year-old has set 10 world records across the IWF youth, junior, and senior levels and currently holds four IWF world records. Apart from the gold medals in the Pan American Championships, the weightlifter has also nabbed one silver in the men’s 61 kg category at the Junior Pan American Championships (2021).


He also stood atop the podium at the Junior World Championships (2022) and the Youth World Championships (2023). His first-ever competition was the Garage Freedom Open on July 9, 2016, and he trained primarily out of his home gym.
