No, Horimiya: The Missing Pieces is not a spinoff, but takes us back to the original story of Season 1. Fans of the popular anime series Horimiya were left longing for more content after the conclusion of its first season in April 2021. However, a delightful surprise awaits them as it has been announced that Horimiya: -Piece-, an upcoming spin-off of the original anime, will soon hit the screens. This spin-off will cover parts of the manga that were not adapted in the initial season, providing fans with new and exciting episodes to enjoy. The first episode was released on July 1st, 2023.

Trailer Release

To add to the excitement, a new trailer for Horimiya: -Piece- has recently been released on the official Aniplex YouTube channel. The trailer showcases the opening theme song, "Shiawase," performed by Omoinotake, and concludes with the ending song, "URL," sung by Ami Sakaguchi. Fans can catch a glimpse of the charming animation and anticipate the romantic and comedic moments that lie ahead.

The key visual features the beloved main couples of the anime, with Hori and Miyamura happily displaying the victory sign. It's evident that both the characters and the fans are thrilled to be reunited for another season.

Cloverworks Returns

Cloverworks, the studio responsible for the original Horimiya anime, will once again take the helm for the spin-off series. With their expertise in bringing the manga's captivating story and characters to life, fans can expect the same level of quality and attention to detail in Horimiya: The Missing Piece.

The Birth of Horimiya

Before its adaptation into an anime, "Hori-san to Miyamura-Kun" (commonly known as Horimiya) gained popularity as a webcomic. Created by Hiriko Adachi, who goes by the pen name HERO, the webcomic was published on HERO's official website from February 2007 to December 2011. It followed a 4-koma format, presenting four panels on each page.

After the webcomic's resounding success on the website, Square Enix acquired the rights to publish it physically. The series was then released in 10 tonkaboon volumes from October 2008 to December 2011. The remaining side-story chapters were also published under the label "Omake."

In October 2011, Daisuke Hagiwara collaborated with HERO to adapt the webcomic into a manga series. Square Enix published the manga in their monthly magazine GFantasy from October 2011 to March 2021. Recognizing its widespread appeal, Yen Press secured the license to publish an English version of Horimiya in 2015.

The Journey to Anime Adaptation

Prior to the highly anticipated anime adaptation, the webcomic received an OVA (Original Video Animation) series. Unfortunately, this adaptation only consisted of six episodes, leaving fans wanting more. The OVA was released in episodes from September 2012 to May 2021, leaving viewers hungry for a full-fledged anime experience.

Now, with the announcement of Horimiya: -Piece-, fans can rejoice as they will finally get to witness the unadapted parts of the manga come to life on their screens. The charming romance, endearing characters, and comedic moments that captivated audiences in the first season will continue to charm them in this exciting spin-off.

The anticipation for Horimiya: -Piece- is soaring, and fans cannot wait to dive back into the world of Hori, Miyamura, and their heartwarming journey. With the returning studio and the promise of new content, this spin-off is sure to capture the hearts of both existing fans and newcomers alike when it debuts on July 1st, 2023.
