Daniel Gafford is an American center/power forward signed with the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA. Hailing from El Dorado, Arkansas, Gafford was drafted 38th overall by the Chicago Bulls in 2019.
After a couple of seasons with the Bulls, Gafford was traded to the Washington Wizards where he finally carved out a niche as a great rebounder, rim protector and especially, an efficient finisher near the rim. During the 2021 playoffs with the Wizards, Gafford had an all-time NBA record 84.6% field goal percentage. He was then traded to the Dallas Mavericks in February 2024, and has become one of the catalysts of Mavs' run to the 2024 playoffs.
Most notably, Gafford made an insane 33 consecutive field goals for the Mavericks in a streak that lasted from March 5 to March 13, 2024. He came up just two field goals short of Wilt Chamberlain's all-time record of 35 straight field goals made. In the 2023/24 NBA season, Gafford averaged averaged 10.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.2 blocks per game, with a field goal percentage of 69.0%
