The Virginia Cavaliers women’s basketball team represents the University of Virginia in collegiate basketball. The team competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and has been playing since 1973.

The Virginia Cavaliers women’s basketball team has made 25 appearances in the NCAA tournaments and were runners-up in the 1991 NCAA Tournament. The Virginia Cavaliers basketball team plays their home games at the John Paul Jones Arena which is located in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Amaka Agugua-Hamilton is the head coach for the Virginia Cavaliers women’s basketball team. She has entered her third season with the program and led the program to the postseason during the 2017-18 season.

Before her arrival at Charlottesville, Hamilton spent three seasons at Missouri State as the head coach from 2019 to 2022. She was also part of the Michigan staff from 2013 to 2019.

Associate Head Coach

CJ Jones is the associate head coach on Amaka Agugua-Hamilton’s coaching staff. He has entered his third season in this position and was also a part of Hamilton’s staff during her time at Missouri State. Prior to Springfield, Jones held coaching roles at Temple, East Carolina, and Francis Marion University. He also spent three seasons with the Detroit Pistons and one season with the Miami Heat.

Assistant Coach

Tori Jankoska, Alysiah Bond, and Janko Popovic are the assistant coaches of the Virginia Cavaliers women’s basketball team. Tori was also a part of Hamilton’s coaching staff at Missouri State and has entered her third season with the Cavaliers.

Alysiah Bond has been part of the coaching staff since 2022 and spent two years at Missouri State before arriving in Charlottesville.

Janko Popovic joined the program in 2022 as the video coordinator and was promoted to assistant coaching role in the summer of 2023. Before Virginia, Popovic had collegiate roles at Marshall and Texas Tech.
