The Game Awards

First launched in December 2014, The Game Awards is an awards ceremony held every year and celebrates the achievements of the video game industry. Ever since it started, the event has been both produced and hosted by journalist Geoff Keighley, who also worked on the ceremony’s predecessor, the Spike Video Game Awards. Using that experience, Keighley then created The Game Awards, with the help of several video game companies and production houses.

Now, ten years later, it is the premium awards show in the video game industry, even though it has often been criticized for various things, including the use of promotional content and its treatment of award winners in the past. The show is also often used as a tool by video game companies to feature upcoming games and premier new content on previously released titles.
