Joshua Jacobs is an American ice hockey player who was selected as the 41st overall pick, in the 2014 NHL entry draft by the New Jersey Devils. Jacobs is currently playing with the St. Louis Blues as a defenseman.
After his selection in the NHL, Jacobs spent time with the Devils' AHL affiliate team Albany Devils and continued to progress. On March 21, 2019, he got a call from Devils for the NHL. He spent six seasons with the Devils and joined the Carolina Hurricanes as a free agent in 2021. After one year with the Hurricanes, he joined the Chicago Wolves where he won the Calder Cup. Jacobs again joined a new team, the Colorado Avalanche and was moved to their AHL affiliate team Colorado Eagles where he continued to contribute to both regular and playoffs. On July 1, 2023, Jacobs joined the St. Louis Blues and began playing as a defenseman.

Jacobs started playing hockey in his native land Michigan, he initially played the U16 program in the Honeybaked Detroit and slowly advanced to the higher levels. In 2012, he joined the Ontario Hockey League with the Sarnia Sting. After playing there for one season, he moved to the United States Hockey League and played the 2012-2013 season with the Indiana Ice where he contributed to leading Indiana to win the Clark Cup. In 2014, Jacobs decided to play collegiate hockey at Michigan State University. He competed in the Big Ten Conference and made his mark by scoring 9 assists in 35 games during his freshman year in the 2014-2015 season. Jacobs was named to the Conference All-Rookie Team due to his impressive scores.
However, Jacobs decided to join the major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League and signed with the Sarnia Sting in 2015. During his 2015-2016 season in the OHL, he scored 4 goals and 24 points in 67 games. Jacobs signed a three-year contract with the New Jersey Devils in 2016 after being selected in the 2014 NHL Entry draft.
