Santiago Ponzinibbio is a professional mixed martial artist who competes in the welterweight division. In his teenage, he started training in kickboxing, and owing to his inclination toward mixed martial arts he relocated to Brazil in search of a training facility. He eventually made his professional mixed martial arts debut on July 19, 2008. In his first professional fight, Santiago Ponzinibbio locked horns with Gaston Micuci at Copa Desafio. He dispatched Micuci in the third round and won the fight via a knockout with the help of a devastating head kick. Ponzinnibio spent his initial years fighting in multiple professional mixed martial arts promotions before making his way into the premiere professional mixed martial arts promotion, The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Santiago Ponzinibbio was welcomed into the octagon by Ryan LaFlare at UFC Fight Night: Belfort vs. Henderson 2 on November 9, 2013. The fight went on for three rounds and Ponzinibbio ended up coming up short and lost the bout by a unanimous decision. He recovered from his loss and won his next two fights in the promotion, his victories included a unanimous decision victory over the former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland. Besides being a prominent professional mixed martial artist in the UFC, he is also a part of the UFC’s color commentary team on UFC Espanol. Santiago Ponzinibbio squared off against Muslim Salikhov in his last fight at UFC on ESPN: Namajunas vs. Cortez on July 13, 2024. The Argentinian lost the bout to Salikhov via a split decision.
