With a professional MMA record of 35-11, Urijah Faber is one of the pioneers of the featherweight and the bantamweight division. In 2003, Faber made his MMA debut at Gladiator Challenge. He defeated Jay Valencia by first-round submission.

A year later he won his first pro title by defeating Velasquez for the GC bantamweight championship. In the space of six months, Faber defended his GC title and won the King of the Cage Bantamweight title. He defended his King of the Cage title five times.

In Oct 2010 with a record of 24-4, he was signed by the UFC as a part of WEC’s deal with Dana White’s promotion. In a division that was stuck in undercard and prelims, Faber put on memorable fights against the likes of Dominick Cruz, Ricky Simon, Frankie Edgar and many others. His underwhelming UFC record is still not enough to tarnish his legacy. He was twice nominated in Sherdog’s First Team (2011 & 2013).

Apart from being a pioneer for the “little fighters”, he is known for starting Team Alpha Male in 2004. The Sacramento-based Gym has produced some of the finest fighters in the game, Chad Mendes, Cody Garbradnt, T.J Dillashaw, and Deiveson Figueiredo to name a few. Team Alpha Male won the Fight Camp of the Year at World MMA awards.
