Murphy was selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft by the Seattle Seahawks with the 16th overall pick. He played three years of collegiate football at the University of Texas. Born on September 8, 2002, the Texas native attended and played high school football at DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Texas. Several scouting websites such as 247Sports, Rivals, and ESPN ranked him among the top 30 defensive linemen coming out of high school.
