Chris Jones (full name: Christopher Deshun Jones) is an American football defensive tackle playing for the Kansas City Chiefs as of January 2025. After being drafted as the 37th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Chiefs, Jones started 11 games, appearing in 16 in his rookie year. He finished the season with 28 combined and 17 solo assists (as per Pro Football Reference), earning a place in the PFWA All-Rookie Team. Jones is a three-time Super Bowl winner with the Chiefs and has also been to the Pro Bowl six times while being a First-Team All-Pro three times, as of January 2025.

Jones grew up in Mississippi attending Houston High School. He was considered the nation's no. 2 overall prospect by 247Sports and was No. 1 on the Jackson (Miss.) Clarion Ledger’s Top- 10 Most Wanted list. In 2012, Jones played a prominent role in helping the Houston Hilltoppers achieve an 11-3 record and their first-ever playoff victory (via hailstate.com). As a defensive end, he led the team with 160 tackles. Jones appeared in 39 games with 16 starts, recording 102 tackles and 8.5 sacks in his three-year career.

Chris Jones was born to Chris Jones Sr. and Mary Woodhouse on July 3, 1994, in Houston, Mississippi (via hailstate.com).

Chris Jones' father

Chris Jones Sr., the father of Chris Jones, built furniture for a living, according to Chiefs.com. When Chris was a fifth grader, his father was placed on probation after he was arrested for a DUI offense. Later, he received a nine-month prison sentence for violating probation, as per the Kansas City Star.

While talking to the Kansas City Star in 2020, Jones Sr. said, “He’s always been loyal to me. That’s what I appreciated about him. Even though I went to jail all the time.”

Mary Woodhouse, the mother of Chris Jones, raised him and his two younger sisters in Jones Sr.'s absence. Jones’ mother worked as a nurse on 12-hour shifts as per the Kansas City Star. She raised Chris Jones in her mother’s house, which had as many as 11 other people living in it when Chris was in high school, as reported by the official website of the Chiefs on September 24, 2017.
