Louisiana-born cornerback, Derek Stingley Jr., plays for the Houston Texans. Stingley Jr. was the third pick in the first round for the Texans in the 2022 NFL draft. Prior to this, he played college football for the Louisiana State University. In 2019, he entered the college team as a starter, having 31 solo tackles, and six interceptions and he defended twenty-one passes, ultimately helping them go unbeaten. Even after missing three games, due to injuries, he was named to the All-SEC first-team, in the following year.

Playin for the Texans, Stingley Jr. suffered a season-ending injury in week 10 of the 2022 season. Entering 2023, he again met the same fate and had a hamstring injury during practices and was out till the 11th of November. He ended the 2023 season with 28 solo tackles, five interceptions and 13 passes defended.
