Durham Smythe is an American football tight end for the Miami Dolphins as of the 2024 NFL season. Smythe was drafted by the Dolphins with the 123rd overall pick in the fourth round of the NFL draft of 2018. Smythe ended his rookie campaign with two starts and six receptions for 50 yards. In 2019, Smythe started 14 games while recording seven receptions for 65 yards. Smythe recorded two touchdowns and 26 receptions for 208 yards during the 2020 season. He played in all 17 games while starting 12 of them in the following season. In 2022, Smythe extended his contract for two more years with the Dolphins. Smythe ended the 2023 season with 35 receptions for 366 yards and a contract extension.

For his collegiate career, Smythe joined the University of Notre Dame. According to the official website of the university, Smythe did not get to play during his freshman season. He appeared in all 13 games his sophomore season. During his junior season, he suffered knee and shoulder injuries forcing him to miss 10 games of the season. Smythe started all 12 games in his senior season. Smythe attended Belton High School where during his senior season, he recorded 37 receptions for 547 yards and six touchdowns. He was also considered the sixth tight end nationally by 247Sports and the 15th tight end by Rivals.
