Geno Smith was born to Eugene Smith Jr. and Tracey Seller.

Cyrill Smith III, commonly known as Geno Smith, is the starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL as of 2024. He was selected in the second round by the New York Jets in the 2013 NFL draft with the 39th overall pick. Plagued with injuries, Smith struggled to maintain his position as the starting quarterback after going 11-18 in his first two seasons. He eventually spent time as a backup for the New York Jets, New York Giants, and Los Angeles Chargers before coming to Seattle in 2019. Smith did not have smooth sailing through his first nine-season, before experiencing a breakthrough in the 2022 season with the Seattle Seahawks. Smith led the league in completion percentage, earned his first Pro Bowl selection, and was named the Comeback Player of the Year for his exceptional performance during the 2022 season. He finished the season with 4,282 passing yards and threw for 30 passing touchdowns (both career-high) while leading the Seahawks to a playoff berth. He maintained the starter role for the following season and finished the year with an 8-7 record while passing for 3,624 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Smith who was born in Miramar, Florida, attended Miramar High School, where he began playing high school football. After high school, he studied at West Virginia University, where he committed to playing college football for the West Virginia Mountaineers football team from 2009 to 2012. Throughout his collegiate career, he continued to add feathers to his hat. Some of his noteworthy achievements include securing the All-Big East Conference Second-team (2010), the All-Big East Conference First-team (2011), and the 2012 Orange Bowl MVP.
