Harrison Butker Contract

Last Modified Feb 8, 2024 07:18 GMT

While steals are a common occurrence in the NFL Draft, very few have been as productive on the offensive end as Harrison Butker was for the Kansas City Chiefs. After breaking the school record in his high school days at the Westminster schools, he made his way to Georgia Tech, where, for four years, he became the all-time leading scorer in school history and converted on 208 out of 201 extra point attempts while going 43 of 60 on field goal attempts.

After being selected with the 233rd overall pick in the seventh round by the Carolina Panthers, he was quickly waved after signing a two-year deal. While on their practice court, the Kansas City Chiefs signed him to a two-year deal worth a little over $ 1 million.

From there, what began was a special bond between Butker and the team as he became an integral part of the offense. While Patrick Mahomes was lighting up the scoreboard, the Buttkicker was ready to complete any plays that didn’t cross the end-zone. The signs were present right from the get-go as he broke two NFL records in his first month with the most field goal attempts in a month and was the only rookie to make five-plus field goals in multiple games. A perfect record on extra point attempts with a fantastic 38 or 42 on field goal attempt saw him being named as an alert to the Pro Bowl.

He would continue his phenomenal form in his second year with the team before signing a 5-year extension once the season was over. Throughout his contract, Butker has become one of the most reliable names for the kicker spot. Currently, holding the second-highest completion percentage for a kicker in NFL history has been as consistent as he has been clutch. While the 13-second game is legendary in Kansas City lore, Butker was one to finish off the play with a last-second bomb. The 2023 season, which has seen the Chiefs offense struggle for the first time in the Mahomes era has had its lone bright spot in Butker.

Further, barring a $1 million amount that was guaranteed at the beginning of the NFL calendar year in 2021, the rest of the $8,100,000 was guaranteed to Butker at the time of signing.
