Justin Patrick Herbert is an American football quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers as of the 2024 NFL season. The Chargers selected him with the sixth overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. According to Spotrac, he signed a five-year $262.5 million contract extension with the team.

During his college years, Herbert played football at the University of Oregon from 2016 to 2019. According to Sports Reference, he concluded his collegiate career with 10,541 yards, 95 touchdowns and 23 interceptions. He also won the William V. Campbell Trophy in 2019. Before committing to Oregon, he played high school football at Sheldon High School.

According to Draftsharks, Herbert experienced a chest rib fracture in September 2022. In January 2023, he sustained a shoulder labrum tear and later that year, he dealt with two hand finger fractures. In July 2024, he was diagnosed with grade 1 plantar fasciitis in his foot, followed by a high ankle sprain in September 2024.

In his college years, he had several injuries including a shoulder clavicle fracture in September 2017, a shoulder injury in November 2018, and a knee patella sprain in August 2019.

In Week 2 of the 2022 NFL season, in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Herbert fractured his rib cartilage in the fourth quarter, causing him to miss one play.

On January 1, 2023, Herbert was diagnosed with a shoulder labrum tear and underwent surgery on January 25. Despite the injury, he played all 18 of L.A.'s games, including the Wild Card loss at Jacksonville.

Hand Finger Fracture (2023)

Herbert fractured the middle finger on his left (non-throwing) hand in Week 4 of the 2023 season in a game against the Raiders. He hasn’t missed any games but has played with a splint or wrap on the finger since the injury.
