Kerby Joseph is an American football safety for the Detroit Lions in the NFL. The Lions selected him as the 97th pick in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Joseph attended Jones High School, where he began his football career. As a senior in high school in 2017, Joseph played at wide receiver position, where he recorded four interceptions and five touchdowns. After his impressive high school career, he started his collegiate football career in 2018 at the University of Illinois.
Joseph played at the reserve defensive back position for the initial two years. As a junior in 2020, Joseph was a starter for the team and recorded 19 tackles. During his first season with the Detroit Lions in Week 9, he recorded 10 tackles against the Green Bay Packers. Due to this performance, he was named National Football Conference (NFC) Defensive Player of the Week and also the first Lions rookie to do so.
