Additionally, Jenkins received recognition in 2018 with the Barry Sanders Award and in 2019 with the OSU Thurman Thomas Award for best offensive player. Jenkins attended Topeka High School, where he began his football career. During his high school career, Jenkins was selected twice for the Kansas All-State squad and was a consistent starter in his sophomore year. He had a breakthrough senior year in 2020, winning offensive player of the year at OSU and first-team All-Big 12 recognition.
