She was born in Browerville, Minnesota and has German, Swedish, Norwegian and Polish ancestry. Tom Brady has cited his mother as one of the greatest inspirations behind his strength as she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 and overcame it. She underwent chemotherapy and was declared free of cancer soon after Brady won his fifth Super Bowl (Super Bowl LI).
