Aleksander Alesksandrovich Barkov, born on September 2, 1995, is a Finnish professional ice hockey center and the captain of the Florida Panthers in the National Hockey (NHL). Barkov was drafted by the Panthers in the first round (second overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He is the son of former Russian ice hockey player Alexander Barkov Sr. and holds dual Finnish and Russian citizenship.
On July 15, 2013, Barkov inked an entry-level contract to kick off his professional journey with the Florida Panthers. Following the signing, he participated in the Panthers’ training camp ahead of the 2013-14 season and made his NHL debut on October 3, 2013, in a victory against the Dallas Stars.
