Alexander Mikhailovich Ovechkin is a Russian ice hockey left winger serving as captain for the Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League (NHL). Born on September 17, 1985, Ovechkin is considered one of the greatest goal-scorers of all time. He was picked as the first overall pick in the 2004 MLB draft and made debut during the 2005-2006 season. Notable achievements of Alex Ovechkin include winning the National Rocket Richard Award nine times for the leading goal scorers in the NHL. He also won the Art Ross Trophy for the most points scored and also has been a three-time Lindsay Award winner. He has also been named to the NHL All-Star Game a record breaking thirteen times. Moreover, he was featured in the All-Star Game for a record breaking six consecutive times (2015 to 2020), 13 appearances in total.

In 2018, he won the Stanley Cup for the first time with the Washington Capitals and also received the Conn Smythe Trophy for the league's Most Valuable Player in the playoffs. Lastly he was recognized as one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players of All Time in 2017.
