Craig Smith is a American professional ice hockey forward who currently plays for the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League (NHL). Notably, Smith was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the fourth round as the 98th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Draft after starring for Waterloo Black Hawks in the USHL, where he stood second in assists (48) and tied for second in points (76) in 2008-09. Moreover, at the University of Wisconsin, Smith was named to the 2010 WCHA All-Rookie Team and helped the Wisconsin Badgers reach the NCAA championship game. As an alternate captain in 2010-11, he led the team with 19 goals. Soon after, he made his NHL debut against the Columbus Blue Jackets, scoring in his debut against Steve Mason. At the time, he became the first Predator since Colin Wilson to play for the Predators without first playing for their American Hockey League (AHL) affilate. Smith later had stints with the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals before joining his current team, the Dallas Stars.
