Jake Guentzel, born on October 6, 1994, is an American professional ice hockey left winger. He plays for the Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL, as of January 2025. Guentzel was drafted 77th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2013. He began his pro career with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2016. He made his NHL debut on November 21, 2016, scoring two goals against the New York Rangers.
In 2017, he suffered a concussion from a hit by Rasmus Ristolainen but returned to help the Penguins win the Stanley Cup. He scored a hat trick in the playoffs. On March 7, 2024, while injured, Guentzel was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes, scoring his first goal for them on March 17, 2024.
