Jeffrey Scott Skinner born on May 16,1992 is a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger currently playing for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League (NHL). Prior to joining the Sabres, Skinner spent eight seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes and served as an alternate captain between 2016 and 2018.

Drafted seventh overall by the Hurricanes in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Skinner made his NHL debut during the 2010-11 season, becoming the youngest player in the league at the time. His debut occurred during the same season and midway through his rookie season, he was named an injury replacement for Sidney Crosby making him the first member of the 2010 draft class to be named to an All-Star game. This gave him the distinction of being the youngest player ever to participate in the NHL All-Star Game, as well as any All-Star game across the four major North American sports leagues. Also, Skinner’s outstanding performance during his rookie season earned him the Calder Memorial Trophy for best rookie, making him the first player from the Hurricanes to receive this honor.

However Skinner was traded to the Buffalo Sabres on August 2, 2018, after spending eight seasons with the Hurricanes. The trade involved Cliff Pu, a second-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, a third-round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, and a sixth-round pick in the same draft. His tenure with the Sabres till now has been satisfactory with 129 goals and 112 assists over his first five seasons with the team. Notably, Skinner holds a unique NHL record for the most games played without making a playoff appearance, with 989 games, surpassing the previous record held by Ron Hainsey at 907 games.
