Roman Josi is a Swiss professional ice hockey defenseman and current captain of the Nashville Predators in the National Hockey League (NHL). Josi’s journey in the NHL began when he was drafted 38th overall by the Predators in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Hailing from Switzerland, Josi honed his skills playing for the local team, SC Bern between 2006 and 2010. Notably, in 2008, Josi was among the select few 17-year-olds to grace Switzerland’s top division. His prowess on the ice was evident during the 2010 NLA playoffs, where Josi emerged as a standout performer, leading all defensemen in scoring and tying fourth overall in goals as SC Bern clinched the Championship title.

Following his early success, Josi joined the Predators’ organization and was sent to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals before making his NHL debut during the 2010-11 NHL season. Since his debut, Josi has gone on to achieve many notable milestones such as becoming the first and only Swiss player in Predators’ history to win the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the league’s best defenceman. Furthermore, he became the second-fastest active defenseman to accumulate 600 points in his NHL career, achieving this feat in just 823 games. Additionally, he also established a new franchise record for having the most 40-assist seasons.
