Tyler Seguin is a professional Canadian ice hockey center, currently serving as an alternate captain of the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). Born on January 31, 1992, Seguin began playing ice hockey in a house league in Whitby, Ontario, at the age of five/ six and later began his minor ice hockey career with the Wildcats of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association. Interesingly, he moved back to Brampton at the age of 10 and played three seasons with the Toronto Nationals of the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) alongside future Calder Trophy winner Jeff Skinner. Seguin also spent four years at St. Michael's College School in Toronto.

During his amateur career, he played for the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL where he achieved significant success. he became the first member of the team to win the Red Tilson Trophy as MVP of the Ontario Hockey League since 1998 and tied for the 2009–10 Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy. Transitioning to the NHL, Seguin was selected second overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins and immediately made his impact in the league, helping the Bruins Stanley Cup in his rookie season in 2011. Since then, Seguin has made an impressive six NHL All-Star Game appearances.
