Tyler Seguin, born January 31, 1992, is a Canadian professional ice hockey center and alternate captain for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). Notably, he grew up in Whitby, Ontario, where he started playing hockey in a house league at five/ six years old, showcasing his passion for the game at an very early age. He later continued his major junior career with the Plymouth Whalers, where he won the Red Tilson Trophy as the OHL’s MVP and tied for the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy in 2009-10. Moreover, he was declared the winner of CHL Top Draft Prospect award and also made the CHL First All-Star Team that same season.

Seguin was later selected second overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Level Draft by the Boston Bruins and won the Stanley Cup with them in his rookie season. Remarkably, he was a key player for the Bruins as he contributed three goals and four assists over 13 games in the playoffs. However, he was later traded to the Dallas Stars in a significant seven player deal, which also saw Ryan Button and Rich Peverley getting traded to the Stars in exchange for Louis Eriksson, prospects Joe Morrow, Reilly Smith and Matt Fraser. Rumors at the time suggested that the Boston Bruins were unhappy with Seguin's alleged hard-partying lifestyle, especially as his on-ice performance declined during the 2013 playoffs. However, he stood strong over this disapointment and has made himself one of the most vital players of the Dallas Stars in recent times, evidenced by his six All-Star Game selections with the Stars since joining them in 2013.
