
Danielle Kang, an American professional golfer, was born on October 20, 1992. She went to Pepperdine University. Before turning professional in 2011, she won the U.S. Women's Amateur twice in a row, in 2010 and 2011, becoming the first to do so in 15 years. She won her first professional tournament at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship in her rookie season and moved on to the LPGA Tour for the 2012 season. She won her first LPGA win on her 144th start at the 2017 KPMG Women's PGA Championship, defeating Brooke Henderson by one shot. Moving on, she won the 2020 LPGA Vare Trophy. As of February 2025, she had six professional wins.

K.S. Kang is Danielle Kang's father. He passed away from cancer in 2013. Danielle Kang's mother is Grace Lee. Danielle revealed to Shane O'Donoghue of CNN's Living Golf that she was angry and unhappy after her father passed away and missed spending time with her family. She took a brief hiatus on her mother's advice, only to realize that she loved competing.
“I felt like golf took away things that I wished I [hadn’t] missed out on, I was young. I missed my friends. I missed graduation. I missed spending time with my family. I’m out on the road alone. Everything that it was that I should be in love with, I wasn’t in love with. I just played to play, and I was very angry and I wasn’t happy. And I told my mom that eventually. And she said to me, 'If you’re not happy, stop playing,’” Kang said.
