Leon Draisaitl is a German professional ice hockey center and alternate captain for the Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League (NHL). Draisaitl's hockey journey began in Germany, where he honed his skills until he was chosen second overall in the 2012 CHL Import Draft by the Prince Albert Raiders. Following two seasons with the Raiders, he was drafted third overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Draisaitl made his debut during the 2014-15 season and appeared in only 37 games that season. Starting from 2016, Draisaitl attained stardom for his consistent performances which contributed to the Oilers’ success in the postseason. In 2020, Draisaitl made history as the first German player to secure the Art Ross Trophy for leading point scorer in the NHL, the Hart Memorial Trophy for regular season MVP, and the Ted Lindsay Award for the most outstanding player. Additionally, he has made the NHL All-Star game five consecutive times (2019-24).

Notably, he is the son of former German national team player Peter Draisaitl, who had a distinguished career representing West Germany and Germany in various international competitions, including World Championships and Olympic Winter Games.
