Matthew Tkachuk is an American professional ice hockey forward and alternate captain for the Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League (NHL). Formerly with the Calgary Flames, Tkachuk was selected 6th overall in the first round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the Flames. Tkachuk, the son of former NHL player Keith Tkachuk. He made his NHL debut in the 2016-17 season and scored his first NHL goal against the Buffalo Sabres in a 4-3 overtime win. Tkachuk recorded 48 points in his rookie season and finished seventh in voting for the Calder Memorial Trophy.
