The Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was born in St. Louis, Missouri, where he attended Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School. His high school football career was strewn with achievements as he was named Under Armour All-American for his senior season in which he piled up over 1600 receiving yards and scored 22 touchdowns. Additionally, he secured back-to-back Class 3 state titles in 300-meter hurdles. A standout player since his school days, the four-star prospect chose Ohio State University, where he played for two years before transferring to the University of Alabama in 2021. After not producing a single season of 200 yards in his two years with the Buckeyes, Williams recorded 1,572 receiving yards in his one season with the Crimson Tide for which he was named for the First-team All-American and First-team All-ACC honors in 2021.
Williams’ tremendous last season at college came to an unfortunate end when he tore his ACL in the 2022 CFP National Championship against Georgia Bulldogs. After declaring for the 2022 NFL draft, he got selected by the Detroit Lions as the #12 overall pick. After nursing his way back from a torn ACL that he suffered during college, Jameson appeared in only 6 games during his rookie season and had 41 receiving yards that year. Williams took his receiving yards total to 354 in his second year during which he played in 12 games, 10 of which were starts. The 6-foot-1 wideout’s production has skyrocketed in his 3rd season as he already has 747 receiving yards in 12 games as of week 15 of the 2024 NFL season. (via Pro Football Reference)
