Khyree Jackson was a cornerback who was taken by the Minnesota Vikings in the 4th round of the 2024 NFL draft with the 108th overall pick. When he declared for the 2024 NFL Draft, Jackson was likely to be a mid to late third-round pick if reports were to be believed.
Standing at a height of 6 ft 4 in and weighing around 194 lb, Jackson had a good frame for the cornerback position. His height was more than many wide receivers in the NFL or at the least equal to them meaning it wouldn't have been easy to beat him with a lofted ball. He also possessed enough strength to held his own against pass catchers.
What Jackson brought to the table from his physical standpoint was possibly neutralized by the fact that he got less play time in his college career which meant inconsistency in technique. While his technical inconsistencies could have been improved upon once he joined the NFL, his speed would have been a major hurdle in his way to make the team.
Khyree Jackson College
Khyree Jackson had attended three different colleges over his five-year college career. He started his collegiate football journey in 2019 by attending Fort Scott Community College which is a junior college in Fort Scott, Kansas. He finished his stint with Fort Scott Community College with 25 overall tackles, 22 of which were solo tackles, and three interceptions.
Being a highly regarded cornerback, Jackson had offers from several top Universities such as Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and many more. However, Jackson decided to attend the University of Alabama to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2021.
In 2021, he was a depth player for the Crimson Tide although he did see action in 12 games. His statistical contributions were limited to just seven tackles and two pass deflections. However, he was used much more on special teams where he made a great impact.
Jackson’s junior year in Alabama in 2022 was more or less the same as his sophomore season. With limited game time, he played in only nine games and was once again used more on special teams with the cornerback position given to him on a rotational basis.
In 2023, Jackson transferred to the University of Oregon in his senior season to play on the Oregon Ducks football team. Easily the most productive season of his college career, Jackson was named to the First team All-Pac-12.
Over the course of the 12 games that he played in, the Maryland native recorded 34 total tackles with 25 of them being solo tackles to go along with 5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and three interceptions which was tied for second-best in the PAC-12.
Khyree Jackson High School
Jackson, who was born in Maryland, went to Wise High School in his native state of Maryland. Even though Jackson had a dominant senior season at the receiver position where he caught 39 catches for 612 yards and 12 touchdowns, he was widely recognized for his work on the defensive end of the ball.
As a cornerback, Jackson was one of the top prospects in the entire country. Top scouting websites such as 247Sports and ESPN.com had him rated as a four-star prospect coming out of high school.
