Theodore Edmond Bridgewater Jr. is an American football quarterback for the Detroit Lions in the 2024 NFL season. He was drafted as the 32nd overall pick in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Bridgewater made the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2014 during his rookie season with the Vikings. In February 2024, Bridgewater officially retired from the NFL but later returned in December 2024. As of December 2024, he has recorded 75 touchdowns, 47 interceptions, 15,120 passing yards, and a passer rating of 90.5 (via Pro Football Reference). He was also named to the Pro Bowl in 2015 and won the Art Rooney Award in 2020.
Bridgewater attended Miami Northwestern Senior High School and was rated a four-star prospect by Rivals.com. He committed to playing college football for the Louisville Cardinals, where he played from 2011 to 2013.
