Claude Giroux, born on January 12, 1998, is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward and alternate captain for the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was picked as the 22nd pick overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Before transitioning to the NHL, Giroux began his major junior career with the Gatineau Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League(QMJHL), where he contributed to the team’s victory in the 2008 President’s Cup and earned the Guy Lafleur Trophy as the 2008 playoff MVP. Additionally, he achieved international success by winning a gold medal with Team Canada in the 2008 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.

Giroux debuted with the Flyers in February 2008 and transitioned to full-time roster status midway through the 2008-09 season. Following the trades of Mike Richrds and Jeff CArter in 2011, Giroux assumed the role of the club's first-line center. He held the position of the team’s top point-scorer for seven seasons. Additionally, he secured third place in the league’s point scoring standings in both 2012 and 2014. Moreover, in 2018, he ranked second in the league with 102 points, trailing only Connor McDavid. More recently, Giroux inked a three-year deal with $19.5 million with the Ottawa Senators on July 13, 2022. He was appointed as an alternate captain on September 19, 2022. In a game against his former team, the Flyers, on November 5, 2022, Giroux notched his 300th career goal.
