Brittney Yvette Griner is a professional WNBA player for the Atlanta Dream. She was born in Houston, Texas in October 1990 and had a decorated career as a high school basketball prodigy. She then moved on to Baylor University, where she won the NCAA title in 2012, leading her team to victory with splendid performances. 2012 was also the year she won the NCAA Most Outstanding Player of the Year award, a Naismith College Player of the Year award, and a Wade Player of the Year trophy. The latter two of the awards were won by her twice in her collegiate career in both 2012 and 2013.
She is also the only player in NCAA history to score 2000 points and have 500 blocks. Entering the WNBA, Griner was a top prospect, picked first overall by the Phoenix Mercury in the 2013 WNBA Draft. Since getting drafted, Griner has won a WNBA title with the Phoenix Mercury in 2014, playing a key role as an offensive as well as a defensive presence. She is also a 2-time scoring champion, 8-time blocks leader, and a 2-time Peak Performer award winner. Brittney Yvette Griner is also a three-time Olympic gold medal winner with the USA women's basketball team, winning in 2016, 2020, and 2024.
