That brings us to the end our coverage for this BBL clash. Till the next time, this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off also on behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Pradeep.
10:40 PM local time (05:10 PM IST):
Melbourne Renegades won by 2 wickets (with an over to spare)
Jacob Bethell 30(22) | Tom Stewart Rogers 3/22(4) Cooper Connolly 66(50) | Jason Behrendorff 2/33(4)
The Melbourne Renegades had to huff and puff during the run chase but managed to overhaul the target in the end, winning by 3 wickets. Josh Brown came out with a positive intent and smashed a boundary to get underway off the very first ball. Jake Fraser-McGurk also tried to take the charge but was dismissed on the final delivery of the first over. Tim Seifert came out hard and took the game by the scruff of the neck.
He smashed 5 fours and a six during his blistering cameo of 28 off just 14 deliveries. Just when Seifert looked like finishing it off early, he was dismissed in the 4th over but he has provided the momentum. Brown was also dismissed soon after and suddenly, the Renegades were reduced to 42/3. Jacob Bethell and Laurie Evans then steadied the ship well.
The young southpaw from England pumped two big sixes off the bowling of Matthew Spoors while Evans also looked in good touch, finding the gaps on a consistent basis. The duo shared a 54 run stand it looked like a cakewalk for them. However it was the wicket of Bethell which cracked the game open. Ashton Agar castled him with a flatter trajectory delivery while Evans gave his wicket away to Cooper Connolly.
Wickets kept falling pretty regularly as the Renegades started losing track of what looked like a comfortable run chase. The match went down to the wire but it was the skipper Will Sutherland who stayed there till the end, seeing his side through with an over left. Jason Behrendorff was the pick of the bowlers for the Scorchers bagging a couple
Tom Rogers is the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: I thought, Connelly on the losing played a hell of a knock, turned out to be a tight game in the end. Last two games, I've been able to do well. The outfield has been similar for the last two seasons, it's a top class facility, groundstaff have done an amazing job. The wicket was 140 or 150, both the teams did pretty good in the end. Little bit of excitement leading into the game, fortunately after a disappointing outing in the first game, we've improved a lot.
The Melbourne Renegades have won a nail biting thriller here. Not many would have thought the game to ho this deep when Jacob Bethell and Laurie Evans were going great guns. The Perth Scorchers fought hard but in the end, the target of 144 didn't prove to be enough. However the Renegades made hard work of this target but will be satisfied with the victory.

18.6 Jason Behrendorff to Will Sutherland, SUTHERLAND TAKES RENEGADES HOME! What a thrilling win this in the end for the Renegades and the captain hits the winning runs for them. Length delivery outside the off-stump, Sutherland lofted it well over mid-off, falls safely and they finish three to seal the game.
18.5 Jason Behrendorff to Adam Zampa, OH DEAR! Absolute chaos, Sutherland was half-way down the track and Zampa declines, but eventually takes off as the fielder doesn't stop it neatly. Pace off, full outside the off-stump, Zampa drives it to covers. There was a single on clearly but not sure why Zampa was declining for it.
18.4 Jason Behrendorff to Adam Zampa, round the wicket to the new batter. Short outside the off-stump, Zampa cuts it away, but a good diving stop at backward point by Agar.
Adam Zampa, RHB comes out to the crease.
The Perth Scorchers still hanging on here with the Renegades still needing 4 runs with just two wickets in hand. This has been a pulsating game folks.
18.3 Jason Behrendorff to Fergus O'Neill, OUT! UP IN THE AIR AND TAKEN! Is there still hope for Scorchers? Short into the batter, but a slower one. O'Neill looks to get it over the top of mid-off but goes up in the air. Turner runs in and slides to cling on to an important catch.
18.2 Jason Behrendorff to Will Sutherland, goes back over the wicket, length delivery on the pad. Sutherland clipped it straight to short mid-wicket and took off. Fielder doesn't collect neatly and they get the tight single.
18.1 Jason Behrendorff to Fergus O'Neill, short of a length, angled into middle and leg. O'Neill clipped it to deep mid-wicket for a single.
Fergus O'Neill will have the strike for the penultimate over and the power surge will be taken. Just two more overs left they had to take it.

17.6 Andrew Tye to Fergus O'Neill, short in the channel, O'Neill pulled it firmly to deep mid-wicket but gets only a single.
17.5 Andrew Tye to Fergus O'Neill, back of a length on the off-stump, O'Neill on his toes to turn it into the on-side but misses, pings on the thigh pad.
17.4 Andrew Tye to Will Sutherland, good length outside the off-stump, Sutherland reaches and eases it to extra-cover for another single. Just 7 needed now!
17.3 Andrew Tye to Fergus O'Neill, back of a length on middle and off, O'Neill swipes it behind square on the on-side for a single.
17.2 Andrew Tye to Fergus O'Neill, FOUR! Length delivery outside the off-stump, O'Neill reaches and lofted it just over the man at mid-off, runs away and picks up a crucial boundary for the Renegades.
