Tom Rogers (2/40 & 49* - Player of the Match): It has been a topsy-turvy week. Let the team down against the Stars but glad that I could do the job tonight. Means a lot to win especially after how it went in the previous game where we messed up in key moments. We discussed about the dimensions here before, similar to MCG. Came in with a positive mindset and hopefully we swing some momentum in the next game.

A hard fought contest has come to an end and at the end of it, the Melbourne Renegades have managed to recover from an early slump and register a famous victory which they will remember for a long time. The target of 148 was going to be a tricky one for the Renegades and once the Renegades kept losing early wickets, it looked like the Scorchers were in complete command of proceedings.

Tim Seifert departed off the very first over of Jason Behrendorff. Jake Fraser-McGurk couldn't quite bother the scorers either as he was dismissed for a golden duck. At 0/2, the likes of Marcus Harris and Jacob Bethell needed a partnership to bail them out of the precarious situation. Bethell and Laurie Evans departed pretty soon as they were reduced to 10/4 inside the 5th over.

Harris and captain Will Sutherland started rebuilding the sinking ship and shared a 34 runs stand before Harris nicked one straight to Finn Allen behind the stumps. The game turned around dramatically when Sutherland was joined by Tom Rogers in the middle. The duo took their time initially but then started finding the boundaries on a consistent basis.

A partnership of 92 runs brought them right back in the contest as boundaries kept flowing from their blade. Sutherland struck a match winning 70 off 45 deliveries which included 5 fours and 3 sixes but he was dismissed in the penultimate delivery of the 19th over which cracked the game open yet again.

Tom Rogers was still out there and eventually ensured that three big shots in the final over was enough to take them over the finish line. Jason Behrendorff, Jhye Richardson and Lance Morris were the pick of the bowlers, bagging two wickets each.

That's the end of the penultimate over and still 12 runs required off the final over. Will Sutherland couldn't quite get their side to the finish line but have given them a chance to secure victory from a very difficult situation.
