It's quite dry. I have been here since 8 am in the morning. This wind is crazy. It's going to be later on about 60-70 kms per hour. It's about 40 now. The length Marco and Gleeson were bowling in that length area and the extra bounce was making things difficult. This will be a tad on the slower and the drier side. It will be about combating the new ball. Facing up to the new ball will be key. Batters might want to stay a bit leg side of the delivery. Bowlers will want to bring stumps into the play.

Commentary

The Sunrisers will be in action again in less than 48 hours when they take on the Joburg Super Kings in their penultimate home game of the season. Meanwhile, the Capitals will next feature on Saturday in an afternoon match against the Paarl Royals. Before all that, we will move our attention to Durban tomorrow, where the Super Giants will be locking horns with the Royals. Do join us for that game. Aiden Markram (Sunrisers Eastern Cape captain and Player of the Match): (On the pitch) It felt quite tough to be honest. The new ball was doing a bit, it had a bit of extra bounce. Then, as the game went on it started to hold up a bit. They bowled well too. Some days you are lucky to get through and get some runs on the board. (On his approach) I realised that I will need to see a few balls. You don't do that often in T20 cricket. But today was one of those days. (On his partnership with Jansen) We were pretty calm. We didn't want to pull the trigger early. Then, Dawson came and started hitting the ball like I could not. That helped us. (On Jansen's development into an all-rounder) I think it is great for South African cricket as a whole. Sometimes people forget how young he is. Hopefully he continues to grow as an all-rounder. (On the support from the crowd) Always exciting to play in front of such a crowd. Thank you for all the support.

Rilee Rossouw (Pretoria Capitals captain): I thought we did the right thing at the right time with our bowling. I thought 150 was par but unfortunately, our batting was subpar today. It was about taking it deep but Sunrisers took wickets at regular intervals which halted our momentum. Hitting half-volley to mid-off, half-tracker to square leg,was definitely not what we wanted. We need to win two three games and we can qualify. Qualifying in the top four is not too difficult in a six-team competition. We need to stick to our process and we will see good results come out. He has got a lot of experience and is coming off a brilliant BBL

After having started the season with three consecutive losses, the two-time defending champions have now turned it around with a hat-trick of bonus point victories. With this, they now have 15 points to their name and move up to number three on the points table. The two teams above them have 16 points each.

While, on paper this might seem like a comprehensive win, the Sunrisers had to work hard for it. Batting first, they lost three wickets in the powerplay itself. And that was not it. The entire innings moved along like an old, broken down car, stuttering through every mile of the way. While wickets fell in heaps from one end, skipper Markram held the fort at the other. On his way to a gritty fifty, he stitched two valuable partnerships. The first with Jansen, which steadied the ship and the other with Dawson, which provided the much needed impetus at the fag end of the innings.

SEC scored 42 runs off the final three overs of their innings, which proved to be the turning point of the game. On a wicket that offered enough assistance for the seamers as well as the spinners, chasing 150 was never going to be an easy task. But the Capitals made things tougher for themselves by playing some poor shots. Jacks and Russouw hit the ball straight to the fielders, while Verreynne was caught down the leg side. Debutant Lion-Cachet and Ackerman did provide some resistance in the middle, but once Dawson broke that partnership, things only went further downhill for the visitors.

In the end, the Sunrisers bundled the Capitals out for 97 and earned their third bonus point on a trot. Jansen and Dawson shared 7 wickets between themselves, while Baartman, Harmer and Gleeson ended up with one apiece.

16.3 Ottniel Baartman to Eathan Bosch, WICKET! SEC win by 52 runs and bag the third bonus point in a row. Bosch makes some room and tries to carve away the good-length delivery zoning into the stumps towards the point region, gets beaten all ends up and the off-stump has been rattled. What a bowling performance by the Sunrisers.
