Ja’Marr Anthony Chase is an American football wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL. The Bengals drafted Chase with the fifth pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He was a starter straight from his rookie season, as he started all 17 games in 2021. Chase finished with 82 receptions for 1,455 yards, winning the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2021. He completed his career-high 100 receptions, as he appeared in 16 games in 2023. Chase has also appeared in seven playoff games over two seasons having 45 receptions for 588 yards. In his 51 regular season appearances, Chase has 318 receptions averaging 14.7 yards and scored 34 touchdowns, as of October 2024. He also made three straight Pro Bowl appearances from 2021 to 2023 and received Offensive Rookie of the Year, PFWA All-Rookie team and Second-team All-Pro honors in 2021.

Growing up in Louisiana, Chase attended Archbishop Rummel High School. As a senior, he received 61 passes for 1,011 yards and 15 TDs in 2017. Chase received 115 passes for 2,152 yards and 30 touchdowns in his high school career. Being rated as a four-star recruit by ESPN, Chase committed to Louisiana State University in 2018. He appeared in 24 games having 21 starts for the LSU Tigers over two seasons. Chase ranks second in the SEC history for receiving touchdowns in a single season for his 20 TDs in 2019. He won the CFP National Championship in the same year and received Fred Biletnikoff Award, Unanimous All-American and First-team All-SEC honors.

Ja’Marr Chase wears the number 1 with the Cincinnati Bengals, as of October 2024. He is the first Bengals player to acquire the number 1 in their history. When told about the fact in an interview, Chase replied saying "That's the plan. That's my goal. That's what I want to do." Chase wore the number 1 jersey in his LSU days and continued to stick with it in the NFL.

According to LSU Sports' official website, Chase was presented with LSU's prestigious number 7 in the 2020 season. LSU announced the number switch in March 2020 terming the wide receiver. Head coach Orgeron said: “He’s very deserving of having the opportunity to be the next LSU player to wear number 7. I know he will do a great job of representing that number and all of those who have worn the number 7 before him.” However, even before Chase could make an appearance in the number 7, he registered for the NFL Draft. Chase also wore the number 7 in Archbishop High School.
